Choosing Wedding Photographers

The wedding is perhaps one of the most important events in the lives of couples. Capturing the great moments in photographs can provide for a wonderful flashback years into the marriage. Having a skilled wedding photographer can make a big difference and when choosing the right one, a few guidelines should be considered.

Asking friends and relatives for recommendations is a great way start the search. Those who have had good experiences with certain professionals can even show a sample of the work prior to meeting the photographer which is a great way of seeing just how capable he or she can be.

A photographer’s portfolio can also be seen through the website if one has been put up. Most photographers offer a comprehensive collection of their work on their pages on the net and searching through the options available can provide a variety of wedding theme choices and different styles that can be chosen from which best suits the needs of the couple getting hitched.

Initiating contact and getting the details from the source is a great way to know more about the kind of service that will be provided. Phone interviews can provide some information regarding photography specialties as well as their availability on that special day. This can also provide a way for knowing the costs of service as well as the things that are included in the package. Conversing will also give a glimpse of the photographer’s personality. Having someone the couples are comfortable with will help narrow down the choices.

Aside from doing phone interviews or site browsing, personally meeting the wedding photographer is a great way to discuss a few more details as well as have the chance to see other pictures in the photographer’s portfolio. It is important that all concerned parties from the bride and groom to the parents who may be paying for the service is included.

10 Trendy Wedding Colors for 2012

Colors play a vital role in any wedding, helping to set the tone and theme for the event. They also provide some focus when it comes to choosing everything from the wedding invite and decorations, to the flowers and bridal dresses. Just as the fashion and decorating worlds have trendy colors each years, so too, does the wedding industry. This means that these colors will be everywhere. Therefore, they will be easy to find. Instead of choosing an off shade or a strange hue, which may be difficult to track down, incorporating the hottest wedding colors into your wedding simply makes things easier. With 10 trendy wedding colors for 2012, there is a color for every style of wedding and every individual preference.

The two over-ridding themes are bold and bright or toned-down and muted. Spirited tones like hot pink, tangerine orange, sunny yellow and Kelly green are very popular for 2012. While these shades may, at first, seem too brazen, they will actually look very sharp when paired with another trendy color, chocolate brown. This rich shade is everywhere. When a luminous, saturated shade, such as sunny yellow, is paired with a rich neutral, like chocolate brown, the effect is amazing. The brown grounds the yellow, while the yellow amplifies the brown. The men can wear chocolate brown suits, with accents of one or more of these bright colors. As for the bridesmaids, they could wear, say, hot pink dresses, with a brown sash tied at the waist.

Those couples who prefer more subtle wedding shades may select muted, dusty tones like lilac, light tangerine, light aqua and pear green. These particular shades will look best with navy blue. The unexpected combination is quite complementary and interesting. The groom and groomsmen could don navy blue suits with pear green cummerbunds and handkerchiefs, while the bridesmaids could wear dresses in that same shade of pear green.

The wedding invite sets the tone for the entire wedding. Therefore, continue to use those same color combinations as a guide when choosing all of the other wedding elements including the table centerpieces, chair covers, flowers, boutonnieres and wedding cake. Don’t be afraid to use more than two colors at once. Pick your favorite wedding colors from the list of hot pink, tangerine orange, sunny yellow, Kelly green, chocolate brown, lilac, light tangerine, light aqua, pear green and navy blue to be on trend.

Fun New Ideas for Your Wedding in 2012: It’s all in the Socks!

I’ve been reading and bookmarking and tagging a million (just a slight exaggeration!) wedding blogs lately while trying to pick up some fresh new trends for the coming year. I am usually good a picking what is going to be hot so I have a lot of great ideas to share with you.

One big trend I see is for the men in the wedding party, the groom and the groomsmen. I see lots of cute colorful socks! Don’t laugh, with the right photographer and the right lighting and poses, matching socks can provide endless innovative and fun photo opportunities.

I suspect this trend started out as an offshoot from some of the bride’s trends from past years. First the bride ditched the traditional white shoes for purple velvet shoes, then the bride embraced all things comfy and wore sparkly tennis shoes. Then the entire wedding party got in to the act and wore the same color of Chuck Taylors.

Now I see this going a bit more subtle with the groom and usually his groomsmen pulling in a splash of the wedding colors with their socks. For example the groom might wear big red polka dot socks which match the bride’s big red polka dot sash. The groomsmen will wear a spinoff of the big red polka dot socks wearing the opposite or complimentary colors for this example they would wear red socks with big white polka dots. And then the bride and groom can give away favors of homemade jams and jellys which are packaged with a big red polka dot ribbon wrapped around the mason jars.

Get the picture? It is subtle, no one can see the men’s socks unless they pull up their pants legs. However when cued by the photographer, the fun socks help to make some adorable pictures. Another big plus with this trend is the price …who can’t afford a new pair of socks? In addition this is a great green wedding idea since the socks can be worn for many years after the wedding. And who can pass up the opportunity for adorable photos?

Custom Made Wedding Chair Covers

Many couples, many times especially the bride to be, want a wedding that is going to be completely memorable and a once in a lifetime experience unlike anything else they have ever been to. Sometimes this can cause a couple to go way over the original budget that they had planned out and sometimes it can also cause the wedding planner, whether it be a professionally hired person or just the couple themselves. A couple that is attempting to have the perfect wedding day will sometimes tend to look into every little detail as they deem everything to be extremely important, even things that people might not really tend to notice too much.

As a couple is looking to make one of the biggest days of their lives as special as it can possibly be, one of the details that a couple might hone in on is the wedding chair covers and how they will look. This may be more important than a person initially believes it to be, as there will be a lot of chairs in the party room so it is something that will most likely be noticed by the guests and the couple, even if it is something that is noticed on a subconscious level. The wedding chair covers can be just what the venue needs to pull the whole look together to create a truly breath taking, unique and spectacular look for the entire room which will leave all the wedding guests with a great impression of the party.

As the wedding chair covers can certainly contribute to the look more than a person would think, it makes sense that many couples will get custom made wedding chair covers so that the design and color and style and every facet of the wedding chair cover looks exactly how they want it to look. While some people may think that this is over the top and a waste of time, they should really think about it practically as the chairs most likely make up a big portion of the objects in the room and therefore will be extremely noticeable and a custom made wedding chair cover can really create the perfect look for a couple’s big day.

A couple can go to many places to get custom made wedding chair covers. There are places that specialize in wedding decor and there are even some local tailors or seamstresses who will do it as well. A couple should look around and see where they can get the best price for the best quality before definitively settling on one place.

Pregnant Brides Can Have Beautiful Maternity Wedding Dresses For Their Special Day

Wedding gowns for pregnant brides don’t have to be drab or boring; now there are a wide variety of dresses to choose from (you also don’t have to stick to the usual color choices of white or ivory – there are plenty of non-traditional wedding dresses in a variety of colors and styles available and many brides are choosing these). With a bit of simple planning and preparation, you can glide down the aisle in style in your beautiful dream wedding dress. Read on for some up front advice on how to prepare for your special day.

How advanced your pregnancy is when you get married will determine a few things. It is advisable to postpone your fittings until about three or four weeks prior to your ceremony so that you don’t need to make further adjustments once you’ve had the dress fitted.

You have to allow for changes in your waist size so think about that carefully when deciding on a style of dress – the type of gown which usually complements your shape might be better replaced with something different. If you can find a supplier who has experience in fitting maternity style wedding dresses than ask for and take their advice. If you prepare well in advance and have your fittings done about 14 days before you get married then there should be no problems.

If there is a dress you have already set your heart on and really want to wear it for your big day then one option is to buy a much bigger size than you usually would and then get it altered to fit your pregnant size. If your pregnancy is quite late by the time of your ceremony then don’t panic, there are many wedding dresses for pregnant brides to choose from and an off the shoulder dress will be comfortable and stylish. Finally, you could get a dress tailor made from a seamstress. This option doesn’t cost as much as you might think and you will have more control over the final design of your dress.

If you try to disguise your pregnancy then it will look obvious and you will end up looking even larger than you are. Don’t worry about being pregnant on your wedding day and be confident that your wedding dress will make you look good.  A little preparation and thought is all it takes to get you ready for your big day and guarantee a wedding free of troubles.

Why Having A Wedding DJ Can Bring Life To Your Wedding Reception At A Good Price

A lot of wedding events feature DJs as both the music provider and the master of ceremonies as well. In most ways, hiring a DJ can save money as you no longer have to separately hire a host or a sound system crew.  A typical cost of a wedding dj can range between $100 to $300 per hour and that would include planning consultation, music list customization, multiple tray CD players, a minimum of one audio mixer and one microphone, with at least four hours of music play plus set up and tear down time.

Now the price may not be definite since there are additional costs that might be added. Some DJs may quote a higher per hour rate for any extended time of performance. There are also DJs that are hired to play recorded music during the wedding ceremony itself so that means additional to set it up at a different location especially if the ceremony and the reception are at two separate locations. Like photographers, some DJs may charge meal fees so make sure to confirm if they are part of the caterer’s head count or not.

Getting discounted rates and fees is also possible when hiring a DJ to entertain the newlywed’s guests. If your wedding falls on a weekday, a lot of them may offer affordable packages and discounted rates since DJs are generally hired on weekends. A few of them also offer discounts of about 5-10% for referrals and repeat customers.

When looking for DJs, the best and most convenient source would be utilizing the Internet. You can search for webpages of DJs who offer performances for wedding and other events or through specific help sites for everything about weddings like costofwedding.net. Make sure to take the time to profile each of the candidates and take the time to give interviews to determine whether their voice, professional appearance and personality are a match.

Hawaii Wedding and Honeymoon

Everyone loves Hawaii. The lifestyle is slow and easy. Hawaii is a great place for a destination lucky wedding day that you will never forget.

Hawaii is a tropical rainy climate, but don’t worry about the meaning of rain on your wedding day; after rain showers the rainbows come out!

Even if you have nothing planned for the days of your island honeymoon, you can quickly find things to do that are both fun and enjoyable.

You don’t need to pack much, because you will not require many pieces of clothing. Most hotels will either have self service laundry facilities, or will do your laundry for you for a fee.

Be sure to bring sandals. socks are practically optional unless you are going to be doing lots of hiking. In Hawaii what we call beach walkers or thongs or go aheads, are called slippers. They are available in most tourist shops and drug stores if you want to purchase them after your arrival.

Swimming is a wonderful vacation activity, so be sure to bring or buy a swim suit, and plenty of sunscreen. During the winter the north shores of the islands are subject to big waves. If you are traveling during the calmer season, these beaches should be fine for swimming and sand play. The giant waves are only during the most turbulent part of the year for offshore weather.

Other delightful ocean activities include kayaking and snorkeling.

The flora and fauna of Hawaii is unlike what most of us have at home. Jacaranda trees and poincianas are particularly beautiful. Be aware that you are not allowed to bring home plants unless they have been inspected and have a certificate documenting that.

If you are on the Big Island of Hawaii, you can actually ski on snow on top of the volcano if you are lucky. If not, you can still travel to the top of Mauna Kea and admire the observatory and the view if the day is cloud free.

Life is Hawaii is enjoyable. Get a plumeria lei and enjoy the aroma all day. Then, in the future, every time you smell the sent of the plumeria, it will remind you of your Hawaiian memorable wedding.
